PSVita Why don't we all just buy PS Vita games 2nd hand?

I have just realised tbh, why don't we all buy Vita games 2nd hand? Because, unlike discs they cant be scratched etc... So, I know there is a thing with trophies but you can work around that and still get trophies. So its, the same game with trophies for a cheaper price?

Because:

1. Someone would have to buy it first hand to generate the second hand market.
2. Developers would get no revenue from the games sold second hand and would impact the profitablity and viability of the gaming division, especially on a platform with limited numbers sold.

Yes, but this is leaving the developers etc... If the same game was there say for £29.99 new and £20 2nd hand, we would always get the 2nd hand game.

If everyone bought second hand there would be no games, I like to support developers so I always buy new.

Hm fair enough, but there always going to get money anyway. Most companies just want your money, like EA!

And that's why we have online passes. People are free to do what they want, but for someone already complaining about a lack of Vita games, don't then complain when nobody makes ANY games because the platform is not viable enough financially.

Welcome to business 101. Game companies make games to make money first and foremost. Not because they are nice. But if you then don't support them buy buying their product, you have no right to an opinion on things.

Yes but, for a game like Rayman: Origins, where there is no great multiplayer modes, then surely you would buy it 2nd hand. Plus, if you were buying a 2nd hand game, then someone will have bought the game new before me?

I said that already. It's still a sale the game company lose.

A game not having multiplayer does not mean it doesn't have value.

Yeah, but if it doesn't have multiplayer then there is no need to buy new if there is no online pass and you can snap it up cheaper 2nd hand.

If that's your motivation. I prefer to make sure people get paid for what they did.

Yeah fair enough. But paying more, for the same game when already there going to make lots of money... Like i said, EA... All they want is your money. I don't want to give them more... I could understand for some companies tho.

OT: Btw, what's your opinions on game collections? I have a small collection of Vita games that is: Fifa Football, Wipeout2048, Resistance: Burning Skies, F1 2011, Rayman: Origins, Motorstorm RC and Super Stardust Delta. But the thing is, I rarely play all of them.. So do you trade a few in to get a new game that I would play? Or do you keep them there when you don't play them? I have the same situation with Xbox360 an PS3 games, I hardly play most but.. Do i trade them in or not?

If its a relatively new title I buy new. If its 3 years old and in the bargain bin then I probably pick it up 2nd hand. If the game in question I know interest me I prefer to buy new to support developers. If developers make a great game they really put in the effort and should be rewarded. If 40% buy used then developers would hand out half arsed software because they wouldn't see point in making a great game if only half of the install base buys 2nd hand.

Yeah I agree with most of that. Like i said, I would buy a new game brand new like I do with most games. However, if a company like EA... I would probs buy 2nd hand because they get so much money anyway. But yes, a company that deserves the money for making a good game, deserves the money.

When it's a new game you won't find it second hand. When it's an old game it will be new on Amazon for the same price as a second hand game. I don't see any advantages for anyone.

If you don't play them, sell them. There is a market for it and you might as well get some money back.

All I was saying was, as someone who berated the lack of games on the Vita in your short time here, don't moan if you are buying second hand, because you aren't really helping. ;)

And your EA criticism is bound to just EA, it's all companies. We are in a massive recession, yet Tesco et al make 3-5 BILLION pounds profit. Every Little Helps. All companies want our money. Some are just more obvious about it.

Yeah I guess, but when I go to trade it in, I don't want too. Then feel guilty when I trade them in :( Also, you get a minimal trade in value these days... A matter of a few £. Yeah I guess that, but like Fifa13 for example, a world-wide hit that sells millions. EA will get so much money, but screw up the servers every year! And still ask for money!

...?
