Just picked up a new Switch for my kid. Noticed the heat sink fins in the top vent look a bit crooked. Is this an issue? Or are we good to go? Thanks.

I can't be of much help but I hate to see this go un-replied to. Here's a photo of my seitch heatsink. Mine is slightly crooked (to my eye) but not quite as much as your admittedly. I've had mine since September 2019 with no issues.

I would definitely contact Nintendo support with the question, and photo. While I haven't in years, I have found contacting support at Nintendo generally returns a decent and thoroughly thought out answer. Of course they might just suggest you send it to them for a free replacement just in case (this would be under warrenty).

The only problem this could cause is allowing the processor to overheat easily, which would cause it to lower its clock speed (slowing down games) or shut off completely. So if you really wanna be sure but don't want to deal with Nintendo support you could try running a demanding game like Zelda for a day straight or something in docked mode.

Just the opinion of a normal player. IThe moment you find its turning off unexpectedly like that then you can get in touch with Nintendo support. imagine its fine, and you'd just want to watch out for unexplained shutdowns. Typically when a game crashes on the Switch it goes back to the home menu, but if it shutsdown due to hardware heat issues it would shut off completely.

Thanks for the reply/information. I contacted Nintendo and they were unable to confirm whether or not this was an issue. They simply setup a repair.

However, rather than send a new switch away for 2-3 weeks, I think I will try the stress test. If it fails or overheats I will likely exchange it at the retailer. Thanks again!
