Have you ever try to unmod a Minecraft world? And was it successful?

I have never been able to successfully run mods in any game they always break the world. And now I am worried about the Java 1.13 update and I am worried that it's going to ruin my small friend's server because we are running a few mods on it. So my million dollar question is have you ever try to unmod a Minecraft world? And was it successful?
