Favorite indie games?

Indie games are consistently released on PC, and among the hordes some real gems come out rather often. The indie part of the industry has quickly grown and many independent releases now give the triple A titles a run for their money. Many great hits include Minecraft, Terraria, The Binding of Isaac, Braid, Fez, Hotline Miami, Monaco, and more... most of these end up making it to consoles, but most of us remember playing them on PC years before the console release.
So which are yours? :D

I love indie games, Xbox has some pretyy good group and single player indie games.
Smite is one of my favorites I'd say, It's got a LoL type feel to it and is a very competitive game.

I recently played Undertale and hoped that it would became my favorite one, but nope. I find it extremely preachy and overhyped, though I applaud Toby for doing the thing with saves. Had the game tried less to be Earthbound, but with moral choices, I would love it so much more.

Minecraft, Bastion, Transistor, Torchlight I/II are some of my favorite indie games. They're really well done and very enjoyable.

Well, one of my choices is Undertale, sooooo... awkward? Meh. Not really. I liked it. The marriage of bullet hell dodging and RPG combat really appealed to me, and I enjoyed the setting. Didn't find it that preachy, either - just a deconstruction of RPG norms. Why shouldn't you feel a little bad about murdering likeable characters? To each their own regardless.

Also really enjoy FTL: Faster Than Light. Great little space sim that will brutally murder you if you make the wrong choices. Or even the right choices. Totally worth the money.

Because the game WANTS me to feel bad about 'killing' a bunch of data so hard that I smell emotional manipulation and it stops being effective... Take into account that I'm the type of person that is unable to be mean to a NPC, mind you. The part that got released as a demo has annoyed me so much with the aboundance of Earthbound-style jokes and the saccharine and manipulative GoatMom that I killed Toriel out of spite, than read more about the game (because I wanted to find out WHY people love it so much), deleted my save game and started a pacifist route. After the demo part I enjoyed it more, but yeah.
Man, I love deconstructions, but this one just wasn't for me. As someone has said, shitting on players for killing video game characters is hypocritical because the author is the one who put the option in the first place? I guess it's a step-up from the Halloween Hack where you have to kill the villain even as it begs you not to do it, you can't walk away... but still.

Interesting comments on Untertale, never tried it myself. I enjoy Minecraft although it does get old and building a nice big (empty) city kind makes me wonder why I'm building in the first place, I know there are mods that add NPC's and all kinds of things but it's version specific and some don't work on LAN and others work but slow a decent rig to a crawl, its just too much hassle. I also enjoy a game called Plague Inc. and Plants VS Zombies. Then there's an older series of Indie games called Alien Shooter, those were quite fun but don't match up to the features of recent indie games.

Don't be afraid to give it a shot - 99% of people who played it LOVE everything about it. My friend (who recommended Undertale to me) was literally crying over the plot and characters, that's how emotional the experience has been for her.

Now that I think about it, my favorite indie game ever is Tale of Tales' The Path. I've finished it with all characters like 3 times, and I would love to play it again. I love coming up with theories on what objects mean what to each of the sisters, what was the trauma in their lifes etc.
I wish that more people gave the game a shot. It's incredible and magical.

I played a lot of Indie games but only a few actually made it to my favorites. Another Perspective is a game that I really love the concept of, but hate how short it is. This is typical of Indie games but I'd love a 10+ hours long version of the game to be released with new maps and puzzles. The game tries to sound deep, and it is to some degree, but to some it can appear pretentious, depending on how you look at it.

Another great indie that I'm currently playing is Stealth Bastard Deluxe. It's a stealth puzzle game. It has great graphics, amazing soundtrack, cool mechanics, and very challenging puzzles. I bought it in a bundle and I spent over 3 hours on it so far and only finished about 40%, that's a good sign for an indie game that goes only for $10 on steam. A lot of value for the price.

Up until recently, my favorite used to be Journey. Well, that changed with Undertale. I know they're very different in both mechanics and presentation, but I just like Undertale more. The "Mercy" mechanic and the 4th wall breaking are features you don't see in today's games.
I finished it like 5 times and every time I found something new.

LIMBO is by far my favorite indie game. It really has fantastic gameplay and a slick dark visual style that no other game has immersed me with, and the sound design was fantastic as was the open-ended story. The design of the environments was really cool as well, and fighting the giant spider and finally impaling it was priceless!

To the Moon. Just an all-around beautiful game. Fantastic writing with a nice balance of humor and somberness, amazing soundtrack, fluid gameplay even if I did hit a few glitches, great characters and a story that still leaves me tearing up. A Bird Story is a prequel-ish-kinda game that is also beautifully made and bittersweet. I can't wait to see more installments of the series.

My favorite indie game is Brothers: A tale of two sons, you definitely need to play it, it's just a masterpiece and it's the only one game, well one of two games that has made me cry, it's such an emotional experience and journey that it's very hard to match and I don't think we can have anything like it if developers don't start caring about good stories.

I don't really know if it's an indie game, but I really like playing Isaac, it's really interesting and entertaining in some way, indeed.
