Devil May Cry Reboot Studio Received Death Threats

This may sound funny...ahahah

It seems some gamers really, really don't like Dante's look in DmC, the upcoming reboot of Devil May Cry. Ninja Theory's Tameem Antoniades revealed in a new interview that the studio received death threats over the game.

"[Enslaved writer] Alex Garland warned me about it because he experienced a similar thing with 28 Days Later where people were upset that it didn't feature real zombies," Antoniades told OXM UK. "And now with his upcoming Dredd movie."

"So I was half prepared for it, although I have to say that it has been pretty eye opening to see some of the creative ways in which people have chosen to vent their hatred. We didn't expect death threats in comic book form or anti-DmC death metal songs!"

While it's disturbing that someone would actually threaten the lives of video game developers, I'm very curious about these "death threats in comic book form" and "anti-DMC death metal songs." Ninja Theory should bundle them with a Collector's Edition or something.

DmC: Devil May Cry is the first game in the series not being developed by Capcom. Ninja Theory's reboot will star a younger Dante. While he doesn't look the same as he did in the other games, he's still gonna be killing demons and shit so the "controversy" over his appearance is baffling to me.

Ninja Theory expects to release DmC sometime in 2012.

this game looks effn lame a'f .. seriously i miss old dante and hell nero .... wth is up with this reboot >.> "if its not broken, don't fix it"

I'd actually like to see the comic book and metal songs. Gotta love the creativity people put into hate.

They should never have changed the original franchise and original dante. I just don't understand
Why Reboot a series of games that still have so much unanswered questions from the originals!? Like what happened to Dante after he entered hell at the end of DMC2? He could have even met Vergil!? <- this alone was begging for a sequel. And who really was Nero how was he connected to Dante and Vergil or how did he have the blood of sparta?
Developers are only meant to reboot a game when it gets tedious (the game-play and story become boring and repetitive) but this series was far from that :( i just do not understand....

P.s Sorry for yet another rant lol

"And who really was Nero how was he connected to Dante and Vergil"

Nero has a connection with Dante's family which Devil May Cry 4 does not explain in depth. For one, Sanctus (the game's main antagonist) says that Nero has the blood of Sparda (Dante's father) in his veins. For another, Vergil's sword responds to Nero's call and even grants him his Devil Trigger form in the same fashion that Dante's sword does for Dante. It is heavily implied that Nero may in fact be Vergil's son, thus making Dante his uncle.

Nero is one of the main protagonists of Devil May Cry 4, marking his first appearance in the franchise and sharing a main role with the series' primary protagonist, Dante. An orphan that was adopted by the Order, but some say that Vergil is his real Father,he has grown up to be a Holy Knight in the Sparda-worshiping religion known as the Order of the Sword. He tends to not get along well with others and prefers to work alone, so he is usually given the Order's "special assignments." Throughout Devil May Cry 4, Nero perceives Dante as the enemy, but as the story progresses he realizes that it's the Order who is organizing their own agenda. Nero pivots his role as a Holy Knight to a renegade searching for answers, then into a vengeful demon slayer when the Order captures Kyrie. In the end, Nero and Dante join forces to defeat the Savior, saving Kyrie in the process. Nero and Dante put on good terms while Dante entrusts Nero that the sword known as Yamato has originally belonged to Dante's brother, Vergil.

I understand if people dislike Dante's new look, just as I dislike having to memorise a new face for Jill everytime she appears in a video game.

What I don't understand is how this is the sole basis of how the game will play, be remembered and judged. I'll reserve that judgement for when I actually experience the gameplay, story amd graphics first hand, thank you very much.

No i will not deem the game bad just because of how the new dante looks i am willing to play it and give it a chance, im not going to lie the gameplay looks awesome and the graphics look beautiful.
Although what i will not do is call this a Devil May Cry game i will be treating it as a brand new series as i said before the old games series storyline was far from over.

How did a thread about a bad ass hack & slash game turn out to be a discussion about sexuality? Seriously guys, how about a healthy discussion instead of trying to feel better than other people on the internet. Work it out in private conversations please, and not in a place for everyone to see.

THANK YOU.
