Cannot find a match in-game. please help!

So I downloaded and installed the game, made an account, logged in and when I go to play now and queue to a match (Deathmatch/CTF/custom game - doesn't matter) It just stays in queue for a very long time and nothing happens... I can't sit around in front of the game menu for hours and wait for it to start and I don't imagine its suppose to take so long...

any suggestions?

Check your firewall, it could be blocking the connect or game ports, this is a fairly common problem with lots of networking hardware and games, don't know if it applies to tribes but its a place to start. The que usually takes about 20-30 seconds before I start connecting, but that could be based on time of day (number of people playing), your location, or other factors... If it's taking a few minutes at evening time EST then you've probably got a networking issue of some sort.

I already checked that and the firewall settings allow tribes ascend...

Are you sure you don't have a network firewall in addition to windows firewall? Your router, etc. Also check your routers configuration, is NAT enabled? Do you have any substantial packet loss on your network or when communicating with the tribes servers? Tribes also runs a service to manage updates and some server communications, are you sure it's not blocked?

To be honset I'm not sure how to check all that... so if you could guide me through it I'de be thankful.
