PSVita Call of Duty: Black Ops for PlayStation Vita deemed an “embarrassment”

Those people who complain about spawns clearly have never played any other COD games. Spawn points are brutal in every COD game, especially on blops 2 Nuketown. I think there are 9 maps. I'm not sure though as I dont play the game on a daily basis like I do Blops 2.

I play Declassified if I feel the need for a quick 2 am cod fix or between classes, or when classes are just really boring.
I agree. I remember the RUST map on MW2, the smallest of all and it was still the most awesome map ever.

I would love see someone complete all the campaign missions on Veteran, get 3 stars on the time trials, and 3 stars in all the onslaught missions in 40 minutes! It definitely lacks content but you can easily squeeze 10-15 hours of gameplay from it and even more if you like the decent multiplayer offering.

Not a bad game, just poorly priced.

This game can't be that bad, can it?

It's not great, but the actual rating of it depends on who you ask. People who like it are suggesting mid ranges, those who review for a living are calling it the worst Vita game, and one of the worst games ever.

I gave up following this game as soon as I heard Nihilistic was developing it, already had my fingers burnt once with Resistance, I only read one review on it on the Edge website, they gave it 2 out of 10 finishing by saying "this needed to be a tripple A title, it got one, Awful."

Regardless of how fun you guys may be finding the multiplayer side of things, a game that can be finished in less than an hour but commands a premium price should be outed as a rip off.

Don't forget that Activision didn't send out review copies in time, which probably gave reviewers a heads up that this was not going to be exactly GOTY... So when they actually reviewed it they were already expecting a bad game, and because of that maybe gave it scores like 2/10 when it should have had 5/10.

Haven't played the game myself though.

Just my last piece on this.

This has had 31 reviews so far from professionals.

Last year's DS one. 8.

First DS one. 22.

First DS Black Ops one. 13.

Why the NEED to review this one. Why not the clamour to review the DS ones?

Probably because the DS hasn't tried to position itself in the marketplace as an alternative to fully fledged console gaming, the Vita was supposed to herald in a new era of console gaming on the go and it's ad campaigns reflect that, obviously every review site out there was curious to see how a powerful handheld would handle the biggest gaming franchise of the moment and the answer is not very well at all, it's not the Vitas fault though, the blame lies solely with the developer, with a bit more effort this could and should have been a flagship title, as it stands its just a rushed cash in.

Edge went into great detail on why they gave it such a poor score, it wasn't because they already anticipated a bad game, it was because its an awful game.

The Vita cites itself as console quality gaming on the go. As in you get similar experiences to those at home. Not the same. IE the type of games, better visuals, the online component and trophies and so on. At no point does it offer itself a serious alternative to console gaming, nor does it currently have the library to do that. Perhaps you can show me the advert that tells you to not bother buying a home console because the Vita does that and more.

Have you played Declassified, out of interest? Is it really only 6% better than Hannah Montana The Movie?

Can't say I've seen Hannah Montana the movie in all fairness so I couldn't comment on how good or bad it is, I have seen this version of COD running on a Vita though as a friend of mine was foolish enough to buy it (he's since sold it though when he realised it was a poor quality rushed game).

By no stretch of the imagination is this game similar to the fully fledged Black Ops 2, regardless of the fact that they advertise it as a companion to the original it still doesn't warrant the name Call Of Duty.

The latest ad campaigns in the UK give the impression that this is console gaming on the go, very little footage (if any at all?) is shown though, funny that.

You've seen it, but not played it. Right, just so I know how valid your opinion is on the subject. It isn't similar to the fully fledged Black Ops 2. That'll be why its called declassified and not Black Ops 2 I guess. ;)

The latest ads in the UK are supposed to suggest that you can play these games when you are out. Not that they are better, or a viable alternative.

What gave its away: the Blops 1 soundtrack, blops 1 maps blocked off, the blops 1 weapons, the developers saving this is a bridging game between Blops one & two?

In the opinion of someone who hasn't played the game, their friend has, but they haven't.

Like just about every Vita game advert? Yeah, funny that...

Sorry, I should have made my post more specific, I have played it (albeit briefly) as like I said a friend of mine bought it, I didn't like what I saw.

Dismiss it all you like but Sony are marketing the Vita as a powerful handheld that's supposed to deliver the full console experience in portable fashion, it can be achieved (LBP is proof of this delivering the full console experience in the palm of your hand) but has failed miserably on this occasion, I know the feeling of buying a disappointing game, been there done that, trying to convince us that it is better than it is though is a futile exercise, the game is out there for all to sample, I'm glad you guys are enjoying it, if I'd bought it I'd be trying to justify my purchase too, thing is though we all know deep down this game is a stinker.

The same advert has a young fella floating through the air as if in a car whilst playing Most Wanted. Are you going to pull Sony up on that too? Why can't I float whilst playing the Vita? That's what the advert said. ;)

I'm not trying to convince anyone that it's a brilliant game, I scored it 3/5 which is not exactly a stellar score. But the MP is a little bit fun. it's not worth full price anywhere, but if you know where to look online you can find it at a much more realistic price. And will do until Killzone arrives.

I'm not justifying anything, just pointing out failure when I see it.
Failure in what?

Of course I'm not suggesting that you should be able to float through the air cause someone does it in an advert, that wasn't what I was getting at as you well know!

Multiplayer can be fun in any game cause there's a competitive element to it but that doesn't justify this games shortcomings. I've seen it cheap on various sites but still wouldn't buy it. There are people that don't have decent Internet connections even in this day and age that can't play multiplayer, it's those people I feel sorry for.

It seems most people are enjoying it. Those who know what to expect from a CoD game (fun and addictive multiplayer experience, lackluster/short single player campaign just to 'tick the box') get their money's worth from it.

I don't know what's up with the professional gaming journalists. When it comes to Vita games they all suddenly go into diva-mode, lose all common sense and start churning out sensationalistic tabloid pulp. If you don't know as a pro reviewer that CoD is all about the MP and should be reviewed accordingly, you deserve to be fired on the spot.

Still the best way to attract eyeballs for your advertisers, I guess.
LOL, this is Yahoo we are talking about.

Pretty sure he was talking about professional Vita reviews in general not this one specifically.
Obviously he is talking about more than just Yahoo, but to even put Yahoo in the same category of "professional" is hilarious.
