PS4 Batman: Arkham Knight revealed

It was apparently leaked through a premature listing on GAME. Nice that they'll actually be wrapping up the Arkham series with this game. The drivable batmobile sounds like a cool addition too.

The New Batman Game is Batman: Arkham Knight
Leaked by a retailer.

Sleuths at website VideoGamer.com discovered a listing for a game called Batman: Arkham Knight on the website of British retailer GAME. It appears that developer Rocksteady has indeed been working on a new Batman game, and it will launch later this year.

According to VideoGamer.com, the listing notes that Arkham Knight is the “explosive finale” to the revived Batman videogame series started by Rocksteady with 2009’s Batman: Arkham Asylum. Scarecrow, Penguin, Two-Face, and Harley Quinn are confirmed villains that will appear in the game.

Interestingly, the GAME listing also purportedly talks about “Rocksteady’s uniquely designed version of the Batmobile, which is drivable for the first time in the franchise.” It seems that the Batmobile will be usable in addition to the normal exploration found in previous iterations in the series (such as the ability to “soar across the skyline of the entirety of Gotham City”).

It was only days ago that word of a new Batman game started to leak via promotional items sent to game stores. It has long been rumored that Rocksteady was working on a next-gen Batman game, however, as WB Montreal took over Arkham duties with 2013's Batman: Arkham Origins, conceivably to give Rocksteady time to work on its new title.

The game is reportedly targeting PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. We hope to have more information for you very soon.

This is probably the first game I'll try out on my soon to be new rig. Hopefully Rocksteady actually supports the games and fixes their bugs. I still cant complete the Riddler Tower in whatever the last Batman game was called.

Should really be posted in the PS4 section where I have just done not seeing this thread as it was in the wrong section. Maybe we can merge the two together. Don't need two threads.

Well I put it in other gaming because it's also available on Xbox One and PC.

In which case the only games that should be discussed in the PS4 section are exclusives which to be honest doesn't make sense. If the game isn't coming out for a Playstation platform then it should be posted here. However if it is them it should really be posted in the relevant Playstation section. In this case it should be in the PS4 section. As it happens now we have two discussion threads on this game in two different sections.

How does creating a third thread on the same topic solve anything. I was thinking more along the lines of descriptions under each forum section so members have an idea of where threads go. Sure, we'll go with your idea though.

I moved this thread to the PS4 Games section because the first post is nothing but PS4. And there is a poll showing who owns a PS4 and XB1. The results show why this is in the PS4 Games section.

The game has no real footage, no information, no anything. Anything you want to discuss can be done right here in this thread.

And the other gaming section is mostly directed towards exclusives on other consoles.

I really hope the Joker stays dead...

P.S I love the Joker I just think he was forced into Origins plot for the sake of him being the Joker.

Origins is the prequel to Arkham Asylum/City series. This means, chronologically, Joker was alive. So, no... Joker wasn't put in there just for the sake of being Joker. He was put in there because he was in the story.

Now, if Rocksteady puts Joker into Arkham Knight, then you'd be right.

I don't like joker all that much, but his play in Arkham City was awesome. His cronies, also. It was fun fighting them all. I thought after all these years Joker in the comics, cartoons, games, and the films... Joker was a dumbass character that DC Comics put in. But after Arkham City, Joker looked like a badass to me. A crazy bastard, but still badass, especially with the huge "clowns." The ones you do like 30x combos on.

And don't get me wrong, I liked Heath Ledger's Joker in The Dark Knight, but Arkham City's Joker was a whole lot better to me. More epic, more character development, more character connection, etc.

But he didn't need to be there. They should've just let Black Mask be Black Mask instead shoehorning Joker in there for the sake of him being there.

I think Joker needed to be there. Joker is the biggest villain in all of comics. If you;'re doing a prequel, its almost a must that you show how Batman and Joker came to be. That being said, Black Mask is a C or D star when it comes to Batman, we're talking Calendar Man level, thus it would have been nice to expose more fans to him.

Calendar Man was pretty much in the background, but his effects can be felt just from the jail cell. I want to finish his trophies, but from what I felt of his character is this silent, creepy mother fucker that wants to fuck. I think that's the intention of Rocksteady. Not a lot of video games could push that kind of NPC. As a matter of fact, I think Calendar Man will go down as the most profilic NPC in gaming history.

I knew this would happen mainly because the game wasn't on next gen systems so they had to be putting another out.
Weird though because the last game is still being worked on, something about Mr.Freeze DLC.

Can't wait for this one, Origins was a disappointing to me but i knew it wasn't developed by Rocksteady so hopefully Knight brings back the smooth flow that the other two had with combat.

I already pre-ordered with Best Buy, i don't buy too many games at release but due to their GCU, getting the game for $47.99 + $10 gift card for pre-order is a good enough deal for me.

i wish they had used unreal engine 4, but nope. they are using a heavily modified UE3 engine :/

They have to work with what they know. Going with a completely new engine is pretty much "counter-productive." Hence why Call of Duty has been using the same engine over and over.

I think the point he is making is that UE4 is heavily improved upon, particle shadows and other effects are the main improvements however with UE they try and keep their engine to not have a learning curve between versions.

Okay, I knew UE4 is heavily improved upon. I knew that much, but what I was saying was that they needed to use an engine that they currently have proficiency with, as in, they know how to code the whole thing. From scrap to completion. I'd seen UE4 demos before, but not as crazy detailed as the one you posted recently:
I can't wait to see UE4 games on PS4, Xbox One, and whatnot. I just can't wait now. This means Diablo can be really, really, really detailed if Activision had changed engines for PS4. That's far off, though. Dark Souls with those graphics... MAAAAAAAaaaaaaan..... fuck that!

The early UE4 and other next gen demos were underwhelming to say the least since we've seen some of the effects currently on PS3/Xbox 360, although lower textures, resolution, and whatnot... my point is, whatever we saw before, was not "wow" yet. This and The Division are "wow." :) Can't wait to see what developers come up with this year and next year.
