Anyone else getting Dead or Alive 5?

akhi216

I ain't sign up for that
Is anyone else excited about Dead or Alive 5?

DOA has been my fighter of choice since DOA1. What I like about it is that it's accessible to newcomers but it's subliminally deep.

Tekken/Street Fighter lover myself, but I do love some DOA. I love the deep/hidden mechanics of DOA, but it feels so stiff sometimes. I feel like my habits with Tekken and Street Fighter don't translate well to DOA, and that's what makes it feel stiff. I will definitely check it out though, it looks great!

This seems like mortal combat im not a fan of that game:( so probably not...
Mortal Kombat isn't close to this game.
It's much faster paced and is based on a rock-paper-scissors type of gameplay.
It's pretty easy for anyone to learn.

Been anticipating a DOA 5 for awhile.
Have played 4 and Ultimate a lot, might get this later since right now getting stuff for lappy.

hmm well i'll have to look at walkthroughs or gameplay vids i guess

ill try it out

DoA Dimensions was my first DoA game and I quite enjoyed that, so I may pick this one up somewhere down the line.

DOA is in the class of Virtua Fighter, THAT is really the only fighting game to compare it to. DOA is a less deep Virtua Fighter with bouncing breasts.

Its a fun game, I am excited for it, especially because they have a couple Virtua Fighter characters in it, but since I am leaving country soon, and not taking any consoles (just handhelds) I will probably pass.

I'm getting the Collector's Edition day one. I've spent more hours playing DOA games than any other series. DOA Dimensions caused me to expand my boundaries and pick up a 3DS, if I hadn't picked up a 3DS I would've never got to experience Resident Evil Mercenaries 3D lol.

DOA has a reputation of being a T&A fighter. This is odd because the girls didn't have any A. Now they have A for sure...

Aside from the fanservice, Team Ninja has added a multitude of changes to make DOA more tournament-worthy.

The Collector's Edition are quite nice, better than the pre-order ones.

Are you getting it? I can barely contain my enthusiasm for it. I've joined joined several DOA fan sites just to have nerd-gasms with like minded people lol.

whats the difference between collector and pre-order?
There are no in game differences beside the fanservice. If you preorder DOA5 from Amazon.com you get the "DOA Devils" DLC, which is 3 devil swimsuits for Ayane, Christie, and Tina. If you preorder DOA5 from GameStop you get "DOA Angels/Bunnies" DLC, which is 3 angel/bunny swimsuits for Hitomi, Leifang, and Kasumi. If you order the Collector's Edition, which will be sold exclusively at GameStop, you will get premium swimsuits costumes for all of the girls and some DOA-specific physical collector's items to sell to some fool on eBay for $100 a pop lol. The preorder is $60 and the CE is $80.

DOA5 will have global tournaments for the top players on the leaderboards. The results of the matches can be seen by all.

Back in the day I used to be fond of Killer Instinct. It had a level of depth that was virtually inaccessible due the fact that 95% of the moves were unsafe on block, this led to tactics that revolved around counterattacking after blocking rather than using the readily available moves that always counter others. Killer Instinct 2 was released later and it did away with the guaranteed counterattacks after blocks. It forced people to see their opponent doing a move and use the correct move to stop them in their tracks (similar to a crush) and land a damaging combo. When DOA1 finally came to the US, I found the fact that every attack could be countered with guaranteed damage amazing. It kind of reminded me of Killer Instinct 2 in a sense.

DOA...come for the boobs, stay for the mechanics lol.
